Lodging in Hotel Puerta del Sol, you will be able to use Cariari Country Club golf courses...
The Cariari Country Club has its own golf course, one that is considered among the best in Costa Rica and in Central America. This 18-hole course was designed by the famous golf course builder, Arch. George Fazio, and was built between 1970 and 1973 by his nephew, Tom Fazio.
This par 71 course measures 6.577 yards, its slope is 132, and the course rating 71.9, characteristics that qualify it as a championship course. The four pars are difficult and five pars need very precise strokes in order to reach the green. The field's total extension is 35 hectares, which is two thirds of the Club’s property.
The course has 18 holes of excellent design. Its yardage and levels of difficulty are the following:

In spite of the fact that the course does not look long in terms of yardage because it is 1.000 meters above the level of the sea; and since it is necessary to walk up and down its lovely hills, it is necessary to play more physically than what it might suggest. Its design makes that several of its landing areas be uphill, and that the fairways curvatures and their narrowness obligate the player to have to choose from different golf clubs at the starting driver. This makes the second strokes be done with very long golf clubs when aimed to a series of well protected greens. Another important element in the level of difficulty in the course is its uneven downhill fast greens.
The course is covered with a lot of trees and vegetation, the fairways are narrow and have some cross bunkers; besides, they are well protected by sand traps.
Our course is in reality a big challenge for the golf player, even more during the dry season when strong winds blow. It is not only these features, but also its tree population that make of this course one of the prettiest in Central America. It is in deed a paradise for our player for its flora and fauna, a fact that helps to make of the golfing experience something even more pleasant.
The fairways have bermuda 419 grass and the greens bermuda 328, which is carefully cut in order to keep it impeccable, so the ball rolls fast and direct.
